Hello 2016!

So if you know me, I work a lot and I love every minute of it. I love helping clients tell their stories and grow their businesses and helping creatives find and use their superpowers.

But in recent years I have put my creativity on hold, meaning my craft projects, sketching, knitting, collage, etc. I have been working only on my design work and putting my dream of becoming an illustrator honing my craft on the back burner.

It is my desire to make things that people like and that they would hang on their fridge not because they are proud of me but because it is something that they connect with. The message resonates with them or the image, color, message, or line work speaks to them.

I am playing more, each day. I have started with a daily project from Creative Jumpstart 2016 with Natalie Kalbach. Check it out here. I get a video everyday for 30 days from 24 different artists. The theme is Matisse and I am working through self doubt and being mad at myself for making something ugly.

I also have been working in watercolor and playing with that medium AND sketching every night while winding down. I will be sharing these with you here. Please feel free to give me suggestions, tell me to stop, to keep working on a piece, give suggestions on fixing or revising a piece.

Here are some of the pieces I have been working on. This stuff takes courage for me to do, because I am working on it instead of working on something else. But it is so good for my soul. Remember to comment.

  1. You’ve really brought to light a new side of yourself! I love seeing all of these colorful and vibrant, fun sketches! It inspires me to get busy again with my doodles! I let them fall to the background towards the end of last year but this really makes me want to get moving with more innovative work! Thank you!

    1. Jeremy you have inspired me! So I am glad to return the favor! I am having fun. Getting up early (but not early enough and staying up late is helping. Plus school starts back and I want to be able to keep this up. But thank you, more coming all month. Hopefully by then a habit is formed and it will be a regular part of my schedule. 🙂
